Assistant Chief Counselor

Dan Rummel was a delegate with The American Legion California Boys State program in 1996. Since then, he has been a counselor with the program, serving as a City Counselor, County Counselor, on the Virtual Task Force, and is now serving as the Assistant Chief Counselor for City & County Operations. In 2022 he was a Party Counselor for The American Legion Boys Nation program. He has been a part of The American Legion for more than 10 years and The Sons of The American Legion for more than 15 years. Dan also serves on the California Boys & Girls State Foundation Board. Dan’s professional career has been as a Nuclear Electrician with The United States Navy. He served on the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) from 2005-2009, where he did two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, Navy Recruiting District San Francisco from 2009-2012 as a Recruiter and the Nuclear Field Coordinator, the USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75) from 2012-2015, where he did a deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Naval Nuclear Prototype Charleston from 2015-2019 as an Instructor, the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) from 2019-2022, and Navy Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department from 2022-2023. In April of 2023 Dan retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of honorable and dedicated service to our country. He has started his next career in Project Management in the Denver Metropolitan area.
